LIFE Águeda has a strong component dedicated to the development of tools that will allow more sustainable management and exploitation of fishing resources, meeting as well with European regulations like the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The foreseen rehabilitation actions are expected to promote an increase in the effective population of the target species. Additionally, the pilot actions related to fisheries management (B5 and B6) should contribute to an economic and environmental valuation of the fish, to its sustainable exploitation and to the increase of the capacity to supervise the processes of buying and selling fish. All these actions will contribute to the objectives of the CFP, aimed at promoting an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable fishing activity in the European Union.
