Intervention Area

The project’s intervention area is located in the river Vouga watershed, in central Portugal.

As shown in the map, concrete conservation works will take place in stretches of the rivers Vouga, Águeda, and Alfusqueiro, located in the municipality of Águeda, focusing, particularly, on the elimination of river discontinuity caused by several obstacles to migratory fish.

Additionally, the project foresees a set of works targeting sustainable fisheries, which will extend to fishermen from the nearby watershed of river Mondego.

Finally, some of the project works will also target other municipalities than Águeda, both in nearby regions as well as in the Alentejo (where the Mora Fluviarium is expected to address a wider population), enhancing the communication, dissemination and awareness-raising goals.
